Default Quantum EC5s and sore thumbs

    Guys,

Ive just put EC5's on all of my stuff off the back of buying a 700 already fitted with them and really liking them!

However, the bloody things are really hard to connect and disconnect - my thumbs are sore already and thats just from charging 10 batterys.

Whats the deal with them? the ones on my 700 are lovely and easy to connect/disconnect. They look different... has anyone any experience in different EC5's? I didnt realise they werent all the same!

Is there any way to tell which ones i have?

The ones from HobbyCity are the ones you want. Only heard negative reports about the ones you have.

Hong kong, usually takes around a week if all your ordering are some connectors etc. if you add any lipos to the order, expect it to take 2-3 weeks!

I use Logic RC and they are fine, but at £4.99 for two pairs they are probably more expensive than the ones from Hong Kong.

Interesting! Guess different peoples hands have different strengths and weaknesses probably due to work and lifestyle. I find the xt easy to pull apart but just can't seem to get the technique for the ec

Well I think the xt to be honest I got them a bit got when soldering so they shrunk down a bit and were very tight! I wanted to standardise to ec5 as the 700 uses them... So thought I'd go that way across all packs.

The quantum ones thought aren't a solid bullet with a cage - the males are just like a smaller version of the female connector with slots cut in them so they can compress down.

They just seem to be a really tight fit - the 700 ones push in and out nice and easy but fit snugly.

The quantum ones I have though sometimes I can't even push them in all the way they are that tight!!! I'm not sure what brand is on the 700 but they are much nicer!!

I'm having the same issue after replacing all mine. What I found is that the ones I bought are not the same internal diameter as those fitted to the batteries I've bought. The difference isn't that huge but it's enough to make one set virtually impossible to put together. The anoying thing is the male connectors on the parallel charging board I got are just perfect and provide an easy fit for both types of female connector I have. The banana plug ones are just a nightmare. Please post if anyone has any good ones in the uk.

they look to work the same as the ones i have, in that the male is just a smaller diameter female with some slots cut into it.

i find them really hard to push together and pull apart! Whereas the ones on the 700 are more banana plug style and seem to work really well

Bloody hell, maybe ill try those ones and see how i get on.

Is tehre a "standard" way of doing it (i.e males on the esc females on the battery) or does everyone do it differently?

at the moment i use male negative female positive on the esc side. Obviously the other way around for the other ones...

Females bullets on battery with males shield male bullets on esc female shield.

These come apart perfectly not too hard but strong enough, they have a little hole in the bottom which reduces the vacum effect allowing them to come apart nicely.

They should be male (banana) on the esc, female on the battery. That's going off my parallel charging board which is all males.
