Default Power to the servo's can it......

Hey guys just a question I need help answering please, my mate was flying over the weekend and had some problems with his servo one of them it seems to be pretty weak like its not getting enough power he said, so am asking if the servos ain't getting enough power from the regulator can that affect it.

    Hey.

I'd be inclined to say its probably a sign that the servo itself is going down. Of it was a regulator problem then the whole flight system would show signs of slowing down, especially when all servos are working together and drawing lots of amps.
I have seen it where a lone servo is weaker than the others on the swashplate.

Can this problem be replicated on the bench? If so could you swap a couple of servo channels over to see if the symptom stays with the same servo.
What regulator is he running also?

    Hey.

Ah ha, this could definetly be a source of problem. The Align reg, while very good on a flybarred machine, is only rated to 6 amps continous and on a model that's flybarless, which puts much more strain on the power supply, its marginal at best.
Just at the weekend I was setting up a 700N with 3GX and as soon as we moved the sticks the satellites browned out through lack of power, this was with a 2in1 unit.

Can you wire in another regulator to test the benefits of more power?.

I think he's getting a new regulator so we will see if that fix the problem

If you use a meter to measure the volts at the rx you'll be able to see if the volts are dropping. This could be a regulator problem or it could be one servo that is taking a lot of current or the linkages that servo is driving could be stiff. Might just need cleaning and a smear of oil or grease.
