    Default DSX9 Calibration

My DSX9 is quite a few years old now and been faultless until this weekend where I've been experiencing all sorts of 'issues' with it.

I've read a few times about these sets needing 'recalibrating' and that this can be done from within the secret service menu.

What are the symptoms that would suggest recalibration is needed?

How hard is it to do yourself?

Does the set have an internal memory battery that can loose it's charge and need replacing?

Send it macgregor and have the tx serviced .Will take about a week and I think it is only
    about £40 inc return postage
Lot cheeper than a crashed heli !

One of my club members put the wrong charging socket in his dx9 ,and fried a chip
sent it back last week .came back on frid ,repaired and serviced all for £60

Didnt think that was bad at all !!

Yes, of course, but if the servicing options are easily managed at home, I'll have a go and save the £40.

If not, will do the proper thing.

Ok, found tho sold thread that I commented on myself some time ago - DSX9 Service menu??

So my symptoms are: the throttle servo on my 700 just jumped one way by 10 points and I thought it was a mechanical fault so I rejigged the geometry last night. back to the field today and it was all wrong again, just all in the wrong place. Checked the Tx screen and found in the throttle curve for normal mode, with zero at the bottom and 100 at the top, the stick input values were 0 and 100 but the Tx output values were -10 and 90, so the bottom part of the curve was capped off and straight line at zero.

I then set the Tx up in a few different models too check and they were all fine. Went back to the 700, and it had fixed itself! Then had a flight and everything was fine.

So, my initial thoughts are calibration, and internal memory. If it has an internal memory watch battery which could be on its way out, then it could be loosing some of its settings maybe? But I don't know if this set has one or not. Or, maybe it's a stick calibration thing, but that wouldn't explain why it all of a sudden came good again.

    1. Begin with the transmitter off, and all switches towards the back of the radio.
    2. Hold the trainer switch on right hand side of transmitter (some reports say throttle hold switch) forward.
    3. Hold down the ENT button, and switch on the radio, entering the system menu. Release the ENT button.
    4. Use the scroll wheel to select TRIM STEP, then click the scroll wheel to enter the TRIM STEP menu.
    5. Use the scroll wheel to select aileron trim step.
    6. Flip the aileron dual rate switch forwards, and press the scroll wheel to select ALI trim, flip the aileron dual rate switch back to the off position.
    7. Repeat step 6 until the service menu appears.
    8. Release the trainer switch.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

    Thanks Jim.

Found the same here -> JR 9XII service menu - RC Helicopter Wiki

I'm just a bit reluctant to go in there if my problem isn't calibration related. Does my symptom sound like it's a calibration error?

From the experience of mine if the calibration is out then its out in all model select channels

Had a butchers inside behind all the circuit boards and there's definitely no little watch battery in there.

Gone into the secret menu and done the stick calibration stuff which is pretty simple really, and it made very little difference to the displayed numbers.

    Will call MacGregor's tomorrow.
