Default Warning: DX8 wipes stick calibration on "clear" button in cal. menu

Thought I'd pass this on, after having discovered the "feature" (latest firmware):

If I press "CLEAR" in the stick calibration menu, it will wipe the stick calibration. From now on, we're in playstation-controller mode where the smallest movement gives full-tilt input.

This makes some weird sense - the "clear button" does what it's supposed to do.
What does not make sense is that it bypasses the "SAVE" button. It results in the same button "click" as pressing clear in the main system menu, there is no other warning or confirmation.

If I know about this, it's no big deal. If not, it might cause some nasty surprises.

Also Ern 2 has just been around and noticed that the sticks have to be in the center to start the calibration or the pitch is not at zero when at mid stick.
    heads up people

Thanks for the warning! The calibration screen could be improved a great deal, the DX7 one was miles better. I've had to rerun it 6 times just to get a decent result at center and end travels (using the "+") method.

I think mid pitch is stored when you save it, so make sure you do pitch last and center it at the end.

I managed to wipe it today, again. This time I'm certain I didn't touch the "clear" button.

My conclusion: If I lose my way into the "calibrate" menu, I have to calibrate.

But this shouldn't look like Spektrum-bashing. It's no big deal as long as I pay attention.

Just press the back button? That's what I do if I accidentally end up in the calibrate menu. Does that not work for your radio?

would it not be wise to bring this to horizons attention? after all If someone with Marcus's experience can lose his settings just by "wandering" into the calibration menu, then surely a less experienced pilot/user is heading for a world of pain.Maybe it could be cured in a future update?

Hope to god I hav'nt made a mistake as I only got my dx8 YESTERDAY and this was only because I needed a new radio as my faithful dx7(which I'am keeping !!!) is now approaching 5 yrs usage,,

Think I'll set the dx8 up for a 450 first before I set it up for the rest of the fleet.
The model shop where I got it from said that mine is from the latest batch and should be problem free
    Will keep you all informed,,,,,,,

I don't know if this applies to the DX8 but I always make a duplicate copy of my helis in a spare model slot on my DX6i - after loosing my working ones when in Phoenix ... which has happened more than once.

I can just copy one back if I need to.
It wouldn't help if all the slots were defaulted - but that hasn't happened ...... yet!

actually the DX8 has the option to export your settings to SDcard, I save all my models and store them to SD as well as copy them onto a secure location in case the card has an issue ...

how do you know if you have done this accidentally? I've been into the menu before can't remember what i pressed to get out and have not flown since, just wondering is there if is a way to check if calibration has been cleared?
