Hello,
The satellite wires for Spektrum receivers deteriorate over time, especially when exposed to nitro fumes. This shouldn't be a problem, since we've got usually three independent receivers (main box and two satellites).
What I didn't know is that a short circuit in one of the satellite wires can cause the whole receiver to stop responding.
I think nobody would expect that a redundant component (which has the sole purpose of improving reliability) can cause a worst-case failure of the whole receiver, and in such an obvious way.
See for yourself.

With my brand-new AR 7100 it is 100 % reproduceable.
A couple of times, even the failsafe failed, and the short circuit caused all servos to do crazy movements in random directions.
What I would like to add is that probably the loss of control for the fraction of a second isn't that problematic. But what killed my model is the glitch when it wakes up again.
