    Default CGY-750 Expo

My club mate and I have been doing some changes to the expo in the CGY-750's. We both had the thought that if there is expo already in the CGY-750 (default settings) and then you run expo on your tranny, what will the overall expo curve look like?

Anyway we decided to take out all of the expo on the CGY-750 itself and just use it in the transmitter. Having flown my 700E DFC tonight with the new settings, it certainly feels more "connected" to stick movements. Very impressed indeed.

Here are the old expo settings on my 600E Pro:-
CGY-750 had -50% in both aileron and elevator.
Tranny had -20% in both aileron and elevator.

Here are the new expo settings on my 600E Pro:-
CGY-750 has 0% in both aileron and elevator.
Tranny has -45% in aileron and -35% in elevator.

I am late to the party, but if you have expo both in the unit and tx, it will have a cumulative effect, which will dumb down the centre of the stick massively. In other words, I'd not use it like that - either set expo on tx or the unit. I remove all the expo from the unit, it's easier to set it up in tx.

Sorry, but after quite a bit of testing with expo just in our trannys, my club mate and I have gone back to expo in the 750 and tranny, but with only a small amount in the tranny. I can't put my finger on it, but it just didn't quite feel right with all the expo in the tranny. But everyone's different, so it's up to you how you set it!

There are several threads on some of the USA forums about this, including a few from Mr CGY750 himself, Ben Minor, who also writes guidance notes for Futaba's own website on this unit.

He has often suggested that all expo be taken out of the CGY750 to avoid the compound effect, and also because it's a lot easier and quicker to adjust from your Tx. He doesn't suggest running zero expo, just zero on the gyro unit.

    Works for me.

With the settings you've described in you first post, you would have to put about 60% expo in TX, or even better, a small deadzone around centre of the stick to achieve similar feel. I could do proper math for you, but as you said, whatever floats one's boat.
