I've just updated both CGY-750 units on my 700's with the new piro compensation software.

It was very straightforward to do. I'll have to wait until weekend to see if it works!!!

P.S. Forgot to say. I had to dig out and dust off my old Windows laptop to do the update. It's just reminded me how s**t Windows is!!!

Pity I'll have to spend £45 for the link cable to be able to update the firmware

The cable is free on the vbar, unlike some FBL systems I could mention!!! Oh, and piro compensation has been part of it for a long time

Well. I couldn't wait until weekend to test fly my 700's with the new CGY-750 firmware with the piro compensation function. So I went to our club field tonight. All I can say is WOW!!!!

I can now do fast piros without touching the cyclic stick and doing any corrections at all. The heli remains very locked in indeed whilst doing piros and doing a fast climb out or fall at the same time. It does wonder ever so slightly if doing a very slow piro. It's absolutely the b******s!!!

Also, it's a one off cost to buy the CIU2 as all Futaba updates are free.

Perhaps they held back on piro comp to give people the chance to compare it to other flybarless systems first? Let's face it, the first version would never have been as good as the Vbar no matter how well it performed. This update may put it on the same popularity level as the Vbar in one go. As far as the US forums are concerned it's turned a good system into a great system in one go.

    Cheers

I was merely illustrating a point

Anyway, as it goes I would like to try this out myself, I certainly have zero brand loyalty for mikado, especially after experiencing their diabolical "service centre" in Germany twice in 2 months. Perhaps a switch to an 8fg AND a CGY750 for me in the near future?
