    Default KBDD Landing Gear

The new kbdd skids are now available here. KBDD - White Landing Gear - MCPX | eBay

Apparently they are really durable. I just ordered some and will be doing a group test with the airtimerc bullet proof skids and the xtreme carbon skids on my blog when they arrive!

Finally treated myself to some new skids. Fancied the KBDD colours.

First flight with them today. Had a throttle hold moment practicing some new stuff. Usual MCPX pick it up and start again. Errrrr....... no, the landing gear had actually snapped off in the frame!!! at both insert points. Also the horizontal bars on the landing gear that hold the battery had snapped as well . No links had popped off, gear was still in place it was not a hard one, into soft grass.

One crash, 4 breaks on the landing gear. It seems to have sheared off at weak points. Perhaps I was just unlucky! The old skids are patched up and good to go though

    Hey

Same here. Bought 2, 1 white 1 orange, white ones lasted all of 2 batteries before the front peg snapped off. Then orange set lasted 6 batteries until the rear left leg broke and the battery holder is showing signs of stress (white rings). Neither were hard landings.

Will be trying the air time ones next....

Hi Rich, Yeah ridiculous ehh. To be honest its as if they are made to shear at points. Very weak.

ummmm, KBDD have this on their website :-

We at KBDD always listen to the pilots. So when we kept hearing pilots speaking of our landing skids breaking easier than expected we took notice. It amazed us that we could run them through the testing we did and not find any problem. We could turn them into pretzels and thump on them all day long. Thanks to the great pilots in this hobby who told us of the issue, we did discover there was a problem. We have made the needed changes in material composition and have sent, and are sending, replacements to our Dealers and Distributors. If you are having problems with our white landing skids, breaking when they really shouldn’t, please contact us for a replacement. All of our other colored landing skids were manufactured using the new material composition.

    and
The skid lugs fit tight and are also tapered. The tight fit and the tapering are for the variances in the Frame holes either from the manufacturer or wear and tear. They are not meant to be pushed all the way in. Only push them in until they are nice and snug. In case of a shear force being applied on the skids causing the lugs to break, you still may have a small piece of the broken lug to ease the removal of the broken lug from the main frame.

Mine were a tight fit, I only secured it with enough pressure to not let the thing fall out. I did not fancy catching it when the gear fell off

I'm going to send them an email. They say it should be fixed on the colour skids however.

They did show a lot of promise as when the white ones turned up they were flat due to postage and bent back into shape with a little help. But like you say they seem very week.

Am i not trying hard enough?
I'm still on my stock skids and they seem fairly flexible
Sometimes in a prang the front pin pops out of the frame and goes to the side but is easily put back in to go again

Surely this won't go on forever and i want some solid skids that don't turn to dust in a crash so you guys keep testing different makes and let me know the outcome
