Yes you need 3, Hs65 will be great you need to trim the area where the servos sit but a 2 sec job.

If you decide on using hitech hs65mg servos you will need to reverse the settings in the tx.instructions on doing this are in the sticky at the front of this forum section.

i have swapped out all the stock servos out of my 400 and replaced them with savox sh 0264 servos and they are great

You can use different servos. I have done this a few times. There is absolutely no problem. You will have to check the direction of rotation and make sure that the arm length is as close as possible. Once installed check that the swash stays level as it goes up and down and adjust servo travel to suit. Servos are basically linear things and move to the required position very quickly. The time taken to reach a position will depend on the force produced by the servo and the force from the control surface that it is trying to move. The important thing is that the servo must have enough torque to do the job. I used a mix of 2Kg and 1Kg servos on a Twister Storm with no problem. Make sure that the servos seem to be getting to final position at the same time and then check out the flying characteristics gently at first, then with greater flight loads. Identical servos don't behave the same anyway. It depends on how good the output drivers are. If in doubt or you want better performance fit better servos. Try the TowerPro MGs for £6. They work well at 5.6V. Probably not as good as a Digital running at 200Hz though. I think it gets a bit like Hi-Fi used to be. Now lots of people listen to mp3.

My comments are about flybarred. Might be another matter with flybarless, or it might not. I am only talking about Sport flying and not high end accurate competition stuff, but I suspect it's more to do with the pilot.

You can repair the stock servo. It's not that difficult. In some ways servos that strip are useful. They save other parts. Better servos are a good investment though. I was happy with the HS65HBs until I had the TowerPros recomended. All servos will strip if you are really trying, and as you get better, so do the crashes. There are a lot of myths in rc, you won't know what to believe unless you try it yourself.

When you do a pitch movement, one servo move in one direction and two move in the other. If servos needed to be the same this wouldn't work as the two servos will get to position before the other. Possibly there should be 4 servos on the swash to give balanced drive and all servos should be selected for equal preformance.

I have a blade 400 and upgraded to hs65mg so some paralells there. I also stripped and repaired my stock servos a couple of times before that, no problem with that either. I have had plenty of crashes and the hitecs have never faltered, where the stock ones would have stripped the gears. I would recommend them. I am going to a rex 600n very soon and will probably be selling off all my blade stuff and spares etc. I am newish to this forum and can't yet post in the for sale section, but I have 2x stock servos and a load of spare gears, which you are welcome to for free, except for you to make a suitable donation to a charity, (Lifeboats would be good). PM me if interested and then when I get enough posts in to use the for sale section, watch out for my Blade 400 clearance if I decide to get rid.
