    Default 130X Parts Cost

    Hi all,
Just done a bit of a comparison on parts costs for the upcoming 130X and have found something I hadn't considered previously.

I priced the following parts for a 130X, 250 DFC Pro and a 450 Pro. Now I know a 450 is a lot bigger than the indoor size of the other two, but I just did it out of interest.

Main shaft, main blades, tail blades, tail boom, landing gear, canopy, main gear, tail control rod, tail gears, canopy mounts, feathering shaft, tail boom brace, tail vertical fin.

    130X - £69.16
    250 DFC Pro - £52.77 (24% less)
    450 Pro - £70.50 (just under 2% more)

I have allowed for the twin packs (ie 2 mainshafts, 3 main gears) with the align stuff too so it's like for like.

I'm a bit surprised if I'm honest, seriously considering the 250 DFC now instead of the 130X, won't take long to get the initial cost of the heli back in parts cost.

    Anyone else surprised by this?

Don't forget to factor in that the 130x is more resilient than either the 250 & 450 so will more than likely not need half of what would break on the other 2

Not really, blade heli parts have always been shockingly high compared to other heli spares.
But you have to consider what you are going to break on a 130x in a crash compared to a 250, very little will break on the 130x especially over longish grass, the 250+450 will break alot more in a crash, heavier more inertia etc..

That still dosent make up for how inflated the prices are. I also noticed that 300x skids are cheaper than mcpx skids?? Dosent make sense.

All about demand. People buy them in droves and have to buy the spares.

It's irrelevant anyway until we actually have them and start crashing them to see how strong they actually are!

As with most things to build one up from new spare parts will always cost at least four or five times the cost of a complete new unit, plus Blade must have some horrendous development and tooling costs to recover. Despite my very best efforts the total running costs for repairs to my MCP-x over the last twelve months is still less than the cost of one 'gentle' Trex 250 crash and I crash the MCP-x almost every flight and rarely onto soft long grass!!

How do you know that? It may be or not. It's lighter for sure, but with headspeeds I am hearing on videos, I'd not count on crash and pick up heli.

E-flite part prices are high for what they are, but I don't mind. I do mind poor parts availability tho.

Spoke first hand to people who've flown it & also seen vids, obviously it's not going to be as pick up n go as the mcpx but it certainly will be better than crashing a 250/450

I've seen the videos where the 130X has had a proper spanking and it hits the deck a couple of times and the one where the pilot tries to flip it back onto its skids in a chicken dance kind of way after a crash which is a great example of its durability, but the more I think about it the more I remember how my MCPX got all messed up after crashing when I went brushless. No more weight but higher headspeed snapped all manner of bits off! 130X is heavier and with a higher head speed again so cant see how bits wont break off.

Don't get me wrong, I think it'll be a lot better than the mcpx and probably wont crash as much due to the better tail and more power, but not sure it will be a replacement for the MCPX after all! Might get 130X AND a 250 DFC!! ........but not at the same time or I may be sleeping in the shed!
