Thread: radikal30 with trm - gasser with attitude?

I saw a Radikal up close at the MK flyin earlier this year and it does look like a very civilised and practical little thing. It's much smaller than the Predator / Spectra-G.

The RJX looks like potentially a pretty high performance gasser but there's no pullstart and for me this takes away some of the charm (and my Align starter would NOT be able to start one).

This s thre radikal 30 690-710 blades so not small..in flavours of G10 or carbon or carbon with metal head..pullstart option.

As for the RJX then the original gasser version was with their EI engine ..so no pullstart but there is supposed to be a Zenoah PUH variant now..

It'd take a fair bit for me to buy another Century product.. I thought the stock predator head parts were pretty poor and hated the fit on my stacked frames/clutch and the way everything bent in a ding.

I accept the radikals have addressed some of that but the legendary pi$$ poor parts support I don't want to risk...

The RJX is way tempting but really think my fleet is adequate although a 550 beckons at times..

I haven't seen the Radikal 30.

My Predator has the all metal head and I think generally it's quite good. It is what it is

My preddie flew well..but the stock head had typical century scrap metal alloy parts you could bend by blowing on on the seesaw ends and the flybar cage twisted in a breeze... needed immediate upgrade. The metal radio tray was just as robust and the boom supports tore off the carbon lower frame in the first incident
For soem reason my kit was such that the middle back carbon frames sat too high on the fan shroud and had to be filed down...not a happy experience which coloured my fluying experience with him..

..but he did fly well... to the point that I got close to offerig on one of those on BMFA recently until sense overcame 'heli-want'

Well, I haven't crashed mine and the only trouble I have had is the pipe coming loose. But it's a heavy mean old thing. Lovable in a way, yes, but one is enough

I need to sit down and go through the setup again and see how much cyclic deflection I'm actually getting at the blades, maybe fit some more aggressive paddles or something. It's very stable but not quite responsive enough for my taste at the moment.

I'm sure you've seen the vid of 'beast' flying a preddie..it can be done

No I don't think I have.

Yeah, I know it's capable of being quite nimble despite carrying an extra kilo of Zenoah engine. I think mine feels sluggish at the moment as a result of just activating the swash mix expo.
