I ask myself this everynow and again.

I crashed the 500 earlier in the week after losing orientation whilst inverted. The spares are on order and it'll be back together in no time. It knocked my confidence as it is easily my most confident heli.

Yesterday (Sat 5th July 08), Mrs Leebert and I went to Ashford Radio Aeromodeler's field for their mini flyin and was inverted with the Knight 3D when I lost the plot again but this time regained control to land it okay.
Two similar scares in one week and one, nearly two broken helis.
Do I need to calm down and maybe step back a bit or is crashing / nearly crashing helis to be accepted and pushing myself a good thing? I'm not sure - the jury is out at the moment...

After amny autos with my 600npro I was sloppy with the 450, put too much positive in on the flare, and completely stopped and folded the rotors at 5 ft.

Nothing wrong. Heli flies fine, no vibes and blades track.
Thats a first!

After much chatting to various heli friends I put out some "feelers" as to how much I'd get for the Raptor to possibly fund a Knight 3D. £250 max seemed to be the general concensus.
I idly chatted about it to a work colleague and was surprised when he said he was interested in it. I took it in and we agreed on a good price, well on the way to a 3D kit.
All being well, I hope to pick it up this Friday 14th March. Can't wait :D

Day one of this blog sees the arrival of the EF Sabre. I brought this so that I could get some hands on with a single bladded heli rather than the contra one that I started with. I found this too easy and have figured the controls, the sabre on the other hand is mind boggling for a n00b like me!!! Kept trying to roll over to the right and has now been broken.

Flying time: 1 min
Stress Factor: +10
Anger manegement needed now.

...since I posted here.
The 500 got taken to Norfolk but, due to various reasons, didn't get flown. Luckily, I had been talking to The Manager and was invited to the club he flies at on the way home. A nice place in the middle of an old WW2 airfield.
The 500 got flown and I had a few good flights. I met the guys there and they are a good bunch :D

Another thing that has happened is that I swapped out the 12 tooth pinion for a 13th. It has now become a more responsive heli and the low HS nod it had when using FP packs has gone. The downside is the flight times has decreased too :(

What have i done?! Spent a small fortune on an N9, and as im sitting here, im waiting for the last few bits to be delivered :) if this fog clears ill try and get a test flight today :D Got it from Steve Chamnerlain (Abyiss), and it looks to be in top notch condition, needs a good clean up though as its not been used for 8 months. Its a very different beast to build to anything ive ever done before, lots of very tight tollerances, which can be a pain, but in the long run i suppose can only be a good thing. Ah well, im gonna go sit by the front door and wait for the postman to deliver my Solid G and BLS251 :)
