Default beast AR7200 450 pro help

Hi all i have a v2 pro with ar7200 on it. First i had it on a modified beam 450 rjx head flew spot on. So i bought the 450 pro V2 and DFC head and off we go now it flips and rolls spot on but in inverted flight it feels very vague and pitches down in the turns ? right way up no probs I have sort of got used to it but it's not as planted as my other beasted models and does not fly anything like the beam. The obvious difference is the location of the fbl unit it was low down under the main shaft on the beam but it's on the trex its on the top of the boom. Same blades same servos same head speed. Maybe the extra 4inch of distance is increasing the resolution or the response of the unit. I have tried turning pot one up but didn't really improve things ???

hows your centre of gravity? sounds like this maybe the problem if theres differences in how it flies from upright to inverted.

Hi, There are no vibes on the machine blades swapped shafts checked run it with no blades, The C of G is not easy to adjust on the 450 it balances bang on the head. I have just move the controller to the bottom of the frame so will get out this afternoon and report back .

Well after lots and lots of flying the conclusion: moved the beast to the bottom still the same, changed the pad to a piece of maplin tape and it felt a lot more locked in and lost its bad habits. Moved the beast back to the top still good. I then spent a bit of time on the tail, set it up in non heading hold then reset the end points and that was the tail sorted rock solid.I dont normally bother with non heading hold but it did affect both ranges. I then upped the cyclic response to "incresed" a few more flights and i started adjusting pot 1 this ended up just under factory position. Heli is now spot on it used to squirm around during rainbows but now holds a nice straight line. I had read about mounting tape but never thought it woud change the feel and charactoristics of a model so much.

Hi jasoncook, pleased you got your 450 sorted,
i had simular issues with one of my 450pro's and my 550e FBL too, both have the BeastX units. I did a bit of searching on this 'feel problem' and the advise i had was not to use the double sided tape supplied with the Beast units.
The tape suggested and the one that i now use, definitely sorted my 'vague flight control feel' is Scotch 4011, the other tape suggested was Scotch 4010. My Beast unit is mounted at the top of the frame behind the swash Anti Rot post, i think as is yours. The scotch 4011 was the answer for me. i hope this helps..

ohh and if anyone would like to do a very quick runthrough of how they set the tail up that wold be appreciated. The gain values on the dx8 seem pretty low. Only flew for about 5 mins checking the tail before it rained today but it seems like it may need some tweaking!

    Edit - Sorted the tail

The 4011 improved the feel on my 7200bx too. Had a spongy pad before and it was sometimes odd feeling. Now much better.

Hi It was the widest one in this link. You can pick it from most maplin stores. On the packet is auto tape 25mm x 10mtr looks identical to number plate tape, it did make a diffrence in the feel on the 450 when i launch it on big rainbows it goes in a straight line now and stops dead, on the beast tape it used to wander or shimmy under the first part of the move and shimmy when it stopped. I changed the 700E tape and it did not make that much diffrence but the model is very well behaved to start with and can not stress the tape with direction changes like the 450 can. Nearly forgot the gain is set directly in the ATV,s at 48% using a 520 with the horn on the nearest hole.

The theory with a gyro or flybarless unit is to isolate it from the vibrations. The usual way is to use a heavy metal plate to mount the unit on and then mount the plate on the foam tape. The foam tape must be a spring and a damper, just like shock absorbers. It's all pretty critical but it looks like trying something has succeeded where BeastX design failed...I expect everyone knows to keep the wires to the unit flexible and short so that they do not conduct vibration from the frame to the unit.

The more I read about this stuff the more I think my 450 Pro woes are all down to the tape I used. The move where I had trouble basically stalls the main blades a little which in turn causes a large vibration and the beastx shows that by giving inputs (unwanted) to the cyclic servos. The vbar seems to cope with these vibtrations fine but I ran the log on my pro unit a while back and you could see a big increase in vibes. I guess they just need to make beastx more tolerant of vibes now. That or include better tape with the unit.
