Default Which one of these 24v psu's?

I've just blown my home made 24v psu and decided I want to get a professionally made one instead. I would get one from the chap making them on here but can't wait till June for delivery. I have found 2 contenders I like the look of just wondered if anyone had an opinion either way:

Switching Mode Power Supply 1000 Watt 12-30V H1000W

    Efuel 1200W 24 VOLT POWER SUPPLY SK-200011

Also if you have one of these or similar you are selling drop me a line,

    Many Thanks,

    Ian.

Another vote for the 1000W 'H' PSU. The fan is a bit noisy though.

Anyone using the parallel boards & pl8 to charge packs with the 1000w psu? I only ask as I just had a conversation with a certain shop that said there were problems with parallel boards and pl8's?

I charge 2 in parallel right now, and will be upping that to 4 once I get my 1500w PSU up and running.

    Anything specific?

The PL8 and PL6 were specifically designed for parallel charging so there isn't much to worry about with the charger.

The FMA parallel adapters are also well designed and protected.

There are parallel boards form other suppliers that are not protected by fuses and may have risks associated with them, but again I can't see how the PL8 is a problem as long as you get the correct wire to go from the board to the charger?

I was told that because the psu's affectively power down for a short time every so many seconds there had been instances of psu's, chargers or boards blowing when the psu affectively turns on again causing a surge?

Pete what 1500watt psu are you getting?

So that's the PSU not up to the job by the sound of it. But it sounds odd that it powers down.

I've got 3 MeanWell 24v 1500w 63A PSU's that I salvaged. They need new fans so I've ordered those then get them up and running.

I'll keep you in mind. I'll only need one as 63A is more than a PL8 could ever use lol

That sounds like they may have been trying to explain that modern chargers like the PL8/PL6 and other similar chargers from other suppliers do not just draw a constant current from the PSU, they pause when they take measurements then resume the charge fractions of a second later.

This isn't really directly related to parallel charging and most good chargers let you set a current limit so the peaks can be contained well below the maximum rating of the PSU, but yes, if you have a poorly built PSU or you try and run very close to the maximum limit of the PSU, these brief pauses can cause the PSU to fail due to current spikes when the charge resumes.

This shouldn't be a problem if you use a good quality, suitably rated PSU.

Mark, I was going to use the 1000watt one link shown at the top of this thread, which seems to be adequate for my needs charging 6 x 3300 mah 6 cell 30c lipo's in parallel using a progressive rc parallel board.
