  • OS50 Hyper

I am thinking of upgrading from my Nexus to a Raptor 50 and if I do this then I would prefer to run an OS (never had any problems with my 32SXH). The Hyper seems to be the latest greatest engine in the 50 range so anyone have any comments about it ?

    thanks
    Rob

Having only seen one in the flesh, they certainly look good. I haven't seen one fly yet....However, Philliphenderson on this site has recently got a Raptor 50 V2 and he may have one in his new heli and I think he was test flying last night.
    Cheers

      OS 50SXH Hyper

I have one in my Raptor and it rocks. It has a tremendous amount of power. Ive got a Curtis Youngblood MP2 (Quiet Version) on it and i can say its the best engine/pipe combo that ive bought so far. Only thing is that it really eats your fuel but for reliability and power you cant beat any os i rekon. Curtis youngblood rekons if you break your os engine in properly that you will have as much as 30% more power than someone that hasnt broke theres in.
      Go buy one there great!

Been running one in my JR Sylphyde 50 for a year now- - It is a little on the thirsty side but it's a brilliant motor with loads of power - easily the best 50 OS have produced ever, none of the fiddly carb setting up that dogged the previous OS 50.
Together with a Zimmerman Muffler it's as quiet as a mouse.

            Hi all,

In another thread I have asked about which to buy, the 50 Hyper or the original SXH. No real answers yet!!

Reading various threads the hyper seems to work at higher revs & fuel consumption, being more highly tuned, but needs a tuned pipe to get the best out of it. However, it does seem to do bearings in.

On the other hand, the SXH has less power, but comments about it's tuning worry me.

I want a set up that's easy to tune, keep in tune and I'm noy hungry for power - I need reliability.

Hyper or SXH? I w3ould prefer a Zimmerman exhaust.

It's for a sclae Bell so not doing anything adventurous>.

            Thanks

only word of caution I would add with regard to the hyper is make sure you run it in properly, nice and rich as ive heard stories of them blowing, not had any experience of it happening myself yet so it may or may not be a problem,. but ive run mine in well rich just in case.
              All the best
