Default Clutch engaging on start up..

Hi all, I am getting my new T-Rex 600 Pro ready for its first flight, I have changed the engine bearings cos it was a little rattley and now sounds sweet :-)
When I picked it up off the chap, he told me it had a brand new clutch fitted, when I fired it up last night the clutch kicked in straight away , is this normal ??.

I also ordered another fan mount which I have fiitted and left the washer in between the fan and engine, should I remove it or just leave it ??.
Thanks everyone, I would be grateful for some advice :-)

Washer fitted is correct. It shouldn't engage until higher revs. Make sure that when you fit the engine you don't bottom the clutch shoe on the bell and that you turn the engin over with your starter as you tighten the engine, this helps to keep it in line. If it's a blue liner in the bell these are slightly thicker than the original and do bite straight away. Either hold the head and rev the engine a bit to slip the clutch and burn some material off or take out and sand/dremel the liner a bit.

Hi shell as wavey said washer is correct and dont worry about the clutch engaging its perfectly normal. When you brought it over erlier engine was running a lil fast on ticover wich i think you upped on tx. again thats totaly fine as you running rich, and if you remeber mine before piston popped it ticked over a lot slower but had to bring revs up to keep it going cos it was too rich to tick over.

Once you done a couple more tanks and start leaning you'll find it will run a lot slower with out conking out hope she flies nice tommorow and have some fun, let us know how she feels and hope fully i see ya donw field with mine soon

In my experience if the clutch is engaging too soon its due to one of these:-

    a) throttle trim is too high for idle position
    b) clutch liner is on the thick side
    c) the clutch shoes have been pulled

'Looks very nice! Those are my colours :-) I have yellow tail blades and orange fins on my 500. 'Hope the clutch issue is not a hassle, it sounds like maybe just new liner being a bit thicker. It's not a bad thing having it grab on the early side (in rev terms) but not so early that you can't get a steady idle. One of mine was getting to where it wouldn't kick in till the revs really got up there and this worried me that the clutch shoes were going to be over stretched.

Hi Sheryl, Daz thanks for the tips :-) My heli is now running nice, I had to keep it running high revs cos the engine kept stopping ( too rich ) but now I have it running sweet, just warm on the bottom plate and it ticks over nice now with out the clutch biting :-)

I hovered it 5 tanks today and flew my rappy all over the sky, I really wanted to send Mrs Trex away but the head bearings need doing cos the head has some movement in it.
I have ordered some ceramic bearings with the blocks.
But other than that my T-rex is ready to fly yyyyyyaaaaaa lol...

My vision 90 does the same. As soon as it started and I take my hand off of the head, it starts spinning away. When I drop the engine to change the bearings next I will sand away some of the clutch liner
