Thread: 600 Boom Support TIP

I was flying my 600le yesterday in IU2 and saw the tail boom was vibrating lots (soo much i thought the whole tail was goin to snap) So i had acloser look at the tail end and noticed the boom supports were comming apart, Im using the plastic ended boom supports and the plastic ends were sliding in and out of the carbon rod by about 5 mm!!!!!

So i drilled a 2mm hole in each plastic end (through the plastic end, the carbon rod and out the other side of the plastic end) Put a 2mm bolt through each one and then fastened it with the nut on the other end, this has effectively pinned the boom supports so they will no longer slide, this cured my vibrations, so i thought i would share this tip

The original ones were aluminium ends with roll pins, far better than these shoddy plastic ones. I make my own ally ends now 'cause of the same problem on my 600N.

Ive got the aliminium ones aswell but the plastic ones reduce the vibrations in the tail and also the aluminium ones used to snap quite alot!!

P.s jus had a flight with my 600le and the tail is awsome rock solid and completly vibe free, the tail feels more locked in and the heli seems to have more power, very happy

Ive only ever had the align gyros on my 600le (not great), it took me ages to get them setteled down and working right!!!!
But i finally did, im using a gp780 with the csm antivibration kit (using the four little square pads on each corner of the metal plate and the thin white pad on the bottom of the gyro), this gives such a steady tail and really locked in!!!!

Hi i just re read your post and it sounds like the engine is running a bit rich, i had the same symptons as you when my engine was rich!!! Btw hows it going now ?

Good tip, did you also glue them? It was certainly found on the 700N with the pinned on ends that after a while the hole in the rod gets elongated.

Not too bad now Chris. Changed to the gy520 gyro and it was a totally different feel, real steady. you were right also about running abit rich, I'm still very new to nitro so I am trying to take it easy and not do any damage to the engine just yet

And yes good plan no point in rushing the tuning process as ,as you can seriously damge the engine on even one learn run, Hope luck stays with you
