stuck on setiing up trex 600

hi flyers was after a bit of advise. i have been going over my heli with a fine tooth combe as i dont realy want anything less than perfect and am a little bit confused and cant seem to find the info i'm looking for.

so far i have set all my servo horns to 90 deg and got the blades set to zero deg at mid stick. now i was told to set my 450 up at 0deg at mid stick with all the arm on head to be level and this has werked perfect for me

now been over the manuel for 600 (not got 1 for 450) and it says at mid stick it should be at +5deg so was wondering what i should set to 0 or 5 deg

should the arms on head all be set level at witch ever i set to at mid stick being 0deg or 5deg or just level at midstick. i just dont want to wing it lol

set it to zero degrees mid stick,i think the 5 deg at mid stick is more for scale flying

are you sure as that would be marvelouse after retaining what u tought me im quite confident in set up just refering to the manuel got me cuffufled lol but like i say i want this 1 to be purrfect to the T so i can do a bit of hovering to run engine in. as you know these are a bit more dangerouse to say the least and expensive cheers terry

the manual will state 5 degrees of positive pitch at mid stick to allow you to hover at or around mid stick, as this seems to be the standard now. but for mechanical setup to be right you should have 0 degrees at mid stick and then once this is achieved you can adjust your pitch curve up to give you 4-5 degrees of positive pitch at mid stick which will again allow you to hover at mid stick. hope this makes sense.

It's not the norm I would say. If you're a budding 3D pilot then it is better to have 0 at mid and hover at around 3/4 in order to have the same hover pitch inverted at 1/4 stick. But, it all depends on what you're comfortable with, there are pilots that have the curve you describe in normal mode and a straight line in idle up. As long as it's right for you there is no right or wrong

i yes davey i gave that old heli away with the manuel but set it and the new up with out but new heli and new shiny manuel infact i got manuals for everything on this 1

looks like i be fiddling again in morning..... who said i had nothing to do in my time off lol these things zap ya time away its great at dancing on ice season

I am sure. The only thing I don't have is a swash leveling tool for a 600. If you want to come over just let me know.

The only thing I would add this juncture is don't get confused by all the different advice. You need a plan that will work and then stick to it.

thanks andy i going to go pick a swash tool up tomorrow hopefully and re set it up as u showed me on the 450 and if you could have a quick check on it that would be great incase i missed something so probly any time good im off work can do tomorrow evening after i sorted it or week end or any time you prefere as im in no real rush i got my 450 to throw round only got this 1 as a treat and i still got ya number so i can ring you if need be when i come over just let me know when ya got a borin day and wel have a heli fiddle

A beginner should set normal mode to +4/+5 at mid stick (This is after mechanical setup with a straight line in the TX so that zero degrees is mid stick)

This allows more resolution of pitch when learning to fly and softens the stick.

Normal mode pitch -4 to +10 (hover at mid stick)
Idle up 1 -7 to +10
Idle up 2 -10 to +10
Idle up 3 -12 to +12

EDIT - setting the normal mode like this when learning also stops the smashing into the ground effect when a panicked pilot drops the throttle.

there is no real correct way to have your pitch curve but 0 at mid stick should allways be acheived during set up. i allways fly in idle up with flat lines for throttle linear for pitch. works for me as my helis are inverted half the time roughly

Personally I was taught to fly with a straight line for pitch in every flight mode. This way you don't need to re learn.

Every guide suggests hover at mid stick for a beginner, its the cheapest, safest and most sensible setup. Transgression to Idle ups is easy from the basic curve and can/should be learned at the same time. This is a subject that I have a great passion about. Our field is a teaching field and I see so many out of the shop setups from FL arrive with a full 3D curve on 10% expo and it just results in a crash. Start slowly, become a 3D god after your A test.
