    Default What causes this?

Hi All. My first post so please be gentle with me. LOL

I have a Trex 500 EFL Pro and very much a beginner, still at the hovering, gentle forward, backwards, sideways with the occasional very ropey spot turn thrown in. Early days yet but I have a strange out of balance oscillation that occurs every now and then.
From the ground to the initial hover every thing is smooth as silk, but if a put a cyclic input in at anything other than a tiny amount, I get a "wobble" that seems to rotate with the disc until it settles down.
Now I know that the blades are balanced. The initial hover is rock solid and the tracking (visually checked seems good)??
Any ideas. Could it be something in the setup of the 3gx?

    Hey.

This sounds like an overall gain or lock gain slider being too high on the cyclic gyros. This will give a behaviour similar to what you describe where the models fuselage almost appears to be wobbling under the rotor disk due to the gyros inputting to much corrective commands. This is the same as what would happen to the tail rotor if the gain was set too high and the tail starts hunting/wagging.

You're using a 3GX FBL controller, what firmware is it running at present?
If you are running V1.1 or V1.2, then my posted settings files for the 3GX will work well on the Trex500 also. These may also require slight gain adjustments, but will work much better than the stock settings.

Thanks for the quick reply guys.
I did the build myself but the setup was done by the guy from the store and it all passed in a blur.
Where and how do I check the gain? I guess I am running v2.0 as it was only setup a couple of weeks ago, but again,
    is there anyway to check?

There are two little white dials on the top f the unit. They should be around the 12 o'clock Ish position, maybe a little higher or lower depending on set up.

Also check your blade grips rotate smoothly when you remove the pitch links. I had a bit of bobbling on mine caused by a slightly binding blade grip

    Hey.

If you connect the 3GX to the pc and open the software, it will show you the currently installed firmware along the top of the interface.

    Thanks both.
    I'll check that out.
The gains on top of the unit are approx in the 12 o'clock and I'll connect up to the computer
    and check the version.

Spot on guys, I dialed back the Elevator Gain to 11 o'clock position and now it's perfect. Thanks all.
