    Hey.

Ah, in that case V2.1 and my 550 settings will be a great starting point atleast. Might need some gain tweeks to compensate for increased vibration from engine, but otherwise they should work well.

I have your settings on my 550EFBL. I love it, BUT, I just wish my tail was consistent. Drifts sometimes, locked others, sometimes start to drift half way through a flight. I have 40% on the Tx gain when I set off and then switch to 35%. If I leave it on 40% it wags real BAD. Perhaps I might need something in between?

V3 Locks the tail in but poor on cyclic side as a lot of people have commented..

    Hey.

When you say switch gain in flight, you're not by any chance switching into rate mode as well are you?
I wouldn't bother switching modes after take off mate, just set a heading lock gain that is wag free and fly with it.

A lot of the gain percentage being able to be used comes down to servo horn distance, how far out from centre do you have your ball?
I run my tail horn shorter than advised, this reduces mechanical speed increases, but increases torque and allows a higher gain setting to be run before hunting sets in.

Thanks coolice. I am not putting it into rate mode. There are 3 settings for my Gyro on the DX8. I will have to check my servo horn. It's out of sight, out of mind. I just like to get it into then air and chuck it around. BTW. I do have some issues with my rudder centre on the DX8. On the Monitor it goes from +3 to -10 when operating the throttle and I know for a fact I am NOT moving the rudder. Can't send it back to HH for a fix because I am in Spain for the Winter.

    Hello mate.

Ah, this will be your problem then if the tail control pot in the transmitter is giving control inputs to the gyro mid flight uncommanded by you.
I had a friend recently come to me struggling to setup his 3G with a similar problem, I noticed with the rudder slider in the middle on the monitor screen the trim was off to the left on the front screen. Also he couldn't setup the gyro properly as it was constantly moving the tail servo on the bench.
Horizon replaced the set with a new one, 2 days before Christmas!

Thanks. Thats what I thought. I will have to carry on with the Tx as it is at the moment.
I have been working on the 550FBL and my 600FB today to sort out the tails. I finished up at 38.5% gain on the Tx for the 550FBL and a bit of adjustment on the tail pushrod. Now pretty good. But sometimes blows out on fast reverse flight. The 600FB has a Futaba 611 gyro and had to be wound up to 85% on the Tx. No wag and pretty well locked in. Can't do much 3D at the moment though. Had a slight accident with a Plank flyers Starter motoron Sunday. Photo attched.
